LUNAR PATTERNS
The aim of this project was to find patterns and textures within the starkness of space. The resulting collection features a range of handwoven and jacquard fabrics specifically designed for menswear. To create the unique patterns and textures, I utilised a variety of techniques. I recreated lunar surfaces in shoeboxes using a papier-mâché technique which I photographed and translated into geometric patterns. Additionally, I experimented with microphotography, taking hyper-macro photos of paint experiments to recreate the surface of planets for printed and jacquard elements. The collection was displayed as part of the Central Saint Martins stand at the 2016 New Designers exhibition in London.
