GEOMETRIC BRUTALISM
This collection draws inspiration from the Alexandra Road Estate in North London, which is one of my favourite examples of Brutalist architecture. The collection features handwoven and jacquard fabrics that aim to recreate the textures and patterns observed during my visits to the estate. To achieve this I hand-dyed the warp yarns and incorporated mohair, slub, and twisted yarns in the weft to create texture within the fabrics. Additionally, I experimented with creating my own weave structures to replicate the geometric patterns found during my research, resulting in a monochrome collection that captures the essence of the Alexandra Road Estate.
