TEXTURES OF E1
This project involved a collaboration with Dashing Tweeds, renowned Savile Row weavers. The goal was to design a collection of contemporary tweed fabrics that would be showcased on Savile Row in London. Taking my inspiration from the colours and textures found in the brick buildings around East London, all of the samples were handwoven on a 24-shaft loom, with a hand-dyed wool warp. I also conducted experiments with warp tie-ins to create intricate pinstripes and checks, while also utilising slub and twisted yarns to recreate various textures within the fabrics. As a result of these efforts, seven of our collections were chosen for display on Savile Row.
